BRIENZERSEE

Brienzersee

Next to Thunersee is Brienzersee. We travelled around both lakes from our hotel in Gunten the following day. The largest town at Brienzersee is Brienz, but even Brienz has more of a village than town character. I include a few images from Brienz and nearby.

Railways are a very common mode of transportation in Switzerland. And here along the lake of Brienz we saw several trains pass
Brienz with a waterfall in the background. The stairs with the flowers to the left of the image belongs to the church, the The Evangelisch-Reformierte Kirche, Brienz. It is one of the oldest Swiss churches and heralds from the 16th C, starting as a Catholic Church but became protestant in 1739. I tried to photograph it, but found it impossible to find an attractive angle, as it was situated on such a steep hill. When I came back home I saw that another photographer had succeeded where I failed, but maybe he used a drone (that is at least what I told myself to explain away my failure)
The local postman in Brienz was quite happy to let me take a photo of him and his vehicle
