A day after Jennifer and I had walked along the river Dranse de Bagnes, Arne and Rada took us up along the river to a spectacular waterfall. That and the area surrounding it was so beautiful that we decided to come back a second day to walk along the rapids and waterfalls. I have described it in two different posts and the second one will follow in a few days. River Dranse, in the valley of Bagnes, flows along a valley and is fed by glacial rivers, streams and endless waterfalls. Exploring the valley was a pleasure, although we had rain the first day.

The flowers in the foreground of the previous image were adenostyles (in Swedish: vitfläckig alpros)
At Fionnay was a huge poser station fed by the Lac de Mauvoisin (see the next post), in turn fed by the surrounding glaciers
And near the power station we could capture the waterfall again. It looked a lot more impressive than the one at Lauterbrfunnen that was 300 metres high, but I have no information about this one.Lauterbrunnen had literally thousands of tourists, when we visited, but here we were totally alone.
While I was photographing the waterfall Arne and Rada were patiently waiting with the rain pouring down
A little hamlet along one of narrow lanes
Our route, climbing up, followed the path of the glacial river, Dranse de Bagnes. And I got several opportunities to photograph the river and its rapids as it tumbled down towards Rhône.
