The family of my daughter Susanne, her husband Dave and their two children, Emily (10) and Elliot (7) came for a visit over Easter. We visited local pubs and Ludlow Castle, saw the historic black-and-white villages and played a lot in our garden. At the top image Elliot and Emily are riding on one of our bronze pigs. I bought the pigs for Knightstone (together with Catharina, Susanne’s twin sister) 25 years ago and they have followed us to Lynch Court.

We have an exciting magnolia tree at Lynch Court with branches perfect for a little child to climb up into. The blossoms were still out there over Easter, but most of the petals had already fallen on the ground.

On Easter Day Mikee arranged an egg hunt in the gardens of Lynch Court. She hid 190 chocolate eggs (!) among statues, in tree branches and on the ground. We invited our neighbour’s children, Islay and Sandy, to join the hunt and the parents enjoyed a lunch afterwards, as always superbly prepared by Jennifer.

It was warm enough for the kids to enjoy themselves on the inflatable paddle boards that Jennifer and Mikee had launched in the pond. Elliot was very excited, but when he fell into the pond, he got a little scared. And Islay (who was about to turn 13) was becoming a lady and couldn’t bother with such trivial things as a paddle board. But for Emily and Sandy, the excitement lasted a long time overseen by parents and grandparents.
