Mikee on a camel (actually a dromedar) at Wahiba Sands

Arne & Rada brought us out into the desert for a night in a tent at Wahiba Sands, and our family went truly and unashamedly touristic. Mikee, Jennifer and I went on a balloon tour. Eric doesn’t like heights, so he preferred to stay on terra firma. Jennifer and Mikee went camel riding (real men don’t do camel riding 💪🏼). And all except Jennifer went into the desert with quad bikes. And Mikee wanted to learn driving a car in the sand dunes, where losing your grip can be fatal. And in the evening, we were all of us contemplating the sunset in the desert dunes with a drink before dinner.

A lonely tree in the desert
Heating up the air inside the balloon, so that the expanded air lifted the balloon. It was very warm during day time, but before the sun had risen it was cold, as you can see by Mikee’s jacket and trousers. The dry desert air leads to enormous temperature differences between day and night

And Mikee learnt to drive a car on the sand dunes. The tires are deflated quite a lot to improve the grip on the sand
