Samburu birds

Blue eared starling

I am not an ornithologist nor do I have the patience to sit and wait for birds to positioning themselves correctly. And I am at the first level of bird photography, where the birds sit and I can safely photograph them from far away. I wish I had caught an eagle flying or catching a little mouse or squirrel or something like that, but that is level three, far ahead of where I am! But the colours and beauty of the birds in Samburu was such that I had to do my best to catch some of it, and below I am sharing some of the photos I took.

Northern Red-billed Hornbill. This beautiful species were everywhere and came to our camp and sat all around us as we were having our meals.
And I must include this colourful fellow, although lots of branches are in front of him. I think it is a Southern Yellow-billed Hornbill
We had an infinity swimming pool at our camp and these birds used the opportunity to take a bath and a drink. They are the same blue-eared starlings as in the first image above. And I couldn’t miss the opportunity to catch them with their shadows in the pool. It is late evening, which is why the light is rather pink in the water.
This little fellow is a Superb Starling
Superb starling
I spotted a couple of branches full of attractively positioned Ring Necked Doves
Little Bee-Eater
Vulturine Guineafowl
Also happy walking on the ground was a Kori Bustard
Spotted high up at a tree top was an eagle, probably a Bateleur
The eagle felt so safe high up in the tree top that we could move around and I could catch him in another attractive pose
And finally a Vulture, probably a Lappet-Faced Vulture
