Muttrah is the commercial centre of Oman’s capital, Muscat.. It is also the location of the famous Muttrah Souk. It is a labyrinth of alleyways stretching endlessly in all directions lined with thousands of colourful shops, where you have to negotiate and haggle about the price of everything. And the air is filled of the smells of spices and perfume.
Just outside the crews from the local fishing boats bring ashore today’s catch appearing in the huge fish market soon after. The aromas filling the air in this part of the market were slightly different from the other parts of the souk.
