Ytresand

Fredsvang is a small fishing village on the northern part of Moskenesøya. But it is cut off from the rest of the island by high mountain ranges, so the only way to access it is from a separate road across a few smaller islands connected by bridges. We drove over to Fredsvang one day and stopped on the island of Torvøya, between the two bridges.

Continuing the road we reached the most northernmost part of Moskenesøya. The panorama at the top of the post shows the bay of Ytresand looking north towards the open sea and Artic cold waters. We had sailed there with Adèle going to Svalbard after we left Lofoten, but in July when it was slightly warmer.

The images below shows different views of Ytresand and the mountains on Flakstadsøya captured from a couple of different viewpoints on the west side of the Ytresand bay.

I loved the little cottage which provided a nice contrasting colour to the otherwise white landscape. The untouched snow showed us that it hadn’t received any visitors for some time.
