The Great Glass Elevator

Eric reading a book by Roald Dahl in the Chambers

While I was editing all the photos from Iceland now in October, Eric came up and joined me by reading a book. He is at the moment very fond of Roald Dahl and was reading Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator. I was impressed, as it is a book of 180 pages. I enjoyed the company of my son sitting in my favourite armchair, while i was tweaking the images of icebergs and waterfalls on the computer.

But the books have competition from his iPad, where he is watching short movies of how to improve his gaming abilities, so he can beat Riza and Mikee. He now has got his own email account as well and likes to write short emails to his friends. Jennifer and I hope we can further develop his interest in books. When I was young I read a lot, but for us their wasn’t that many alternatives to books, when the winter evenings came closer. Yesterday he informed me that he had joined a chess club before half-term and that  he wanted to join the rugby club as well. My little brittle son joining a rugby club! I think I am seeing him with new eyes!
