Family at Summer Party

The Osterlund family at our garden, July 2021

We had our Garden Party and Eric’s Birthday Party this summer again after two years. But due to Covid restrictions, we had to postpone it from its traditional date in late June to 21 July, when our restrictions had ended. It was very hot, so hot that I couldn’t quite mange to walk around with my camera and take photos. But Lewis took this photo of us just before the party started.

Lewis is of course more interested in his garden than in us, so he was trying to arrange us, so we didn’t hide the beautiful flowers he had alongside and on the wall. Little did he know that I would crop out most of his flowers anyway! I am very thankful to have this photo of all of us together in the summer heat.

But to limit Lewis disappointment of me cropping the image, I decided to publish a photo of the wall without any of the family hiding the flowers. it was captured three weeks earlier on a cloudy day, whereas we were as usual at Eric’s party blessed with clear blue skies (a little bit too blessed for an arctic Swede!).

Our garden wall looking north towards the wildflower meadow. The modern barn building is hidden by the wall, but the curved roof planted with sedum can just be seen

Then Jennifer wanted a photo of just Eric and her. Eric has now grown and will soon overshoot his mum. He is very shy, as you can see in this photo. But on a Sunday morning, when I get up to have a shower, he can still come and cuddle up with mum in our bed! I wonder how long we will still have that privilege?
