Cherry Blossoms

Spring has arrived. The daffodils have nearly finished blooming and now it was time for our cherry tree to show off its colours. Cannot be compared to the explosion of hues in Japan, but our black cherry at the entrance to our park is still showing off as best it can. In the summer it sprouts dark red leaves, and l have included an image I took last May, when its dark red colour provides a powerful contrast to the soft spring greens everywhere else.

The same black cherry tree last May with the sun behind it and to the left two weeping silver birches

But otherwise the park is still just waking up after the winter. Up on the hill a lonely gorse bush stood proudly with the white flowers from a Sloe further back, but otherwise our park is still in winter mode. But now it will soon explode.

Here and there in the park some daffodils are still brightening up our walks
